Nathan did great at his two week checkup with Dr. Sunit this afternoon. He did have to have his heel pricked, and he expressed his dissatisfaction with the nurse very clearly! The BEST news from the appointment is that we no longer have to wake him up at night to feed him! YAHOO!! He is getting more aware of hunger and may wake up more often to feed, but the alarm every 3 hours at night will not be missed.
We are lucky to have a healthy, strong little boy.
His stats:
Height: 21 inches - 50%ile
Weight: 8 lb, 14 oz - 50%ile
Head: 37.6 cm - 60%ile
We are going to check with an ENT Specialist on Nathan's tongue-tie to explore having it clipped. Dr. Sunit is in favor of it as it is making breastfeeding painful for me and there really are no "cons" to cutting it. We will hopefully get in next week with the ENT doctor.

First I heard of Nathan's "tongue-tie". What's that? Good luck with it.
Oh yeah...SO HAPPY that Nate can decide when he wants to be fed now. Hopefully he won't screw that up.
Note to Nate: Sleep at least 6 hours at night to start...then increase to 8 hours.
Got that? Good.
He has a tongue tie like me. It is a short ‘lingual frenum' (or lingual frenulum) - the cord that stretches from under the tongue to the floor of the mouth. Basically he can't stick his tongue out very far. The only "issue" with one is the potential for speech problems if it is really short, but his is less prominent than mine and I never had any speech problems. For breast feeding, his tongue pushes rather than wraps around and pulls. Snipping it is easy and painless (no nerve endings or even blood) and can correct breast feeding issues almost instantly and takes away the speech concern. :)
